Creating a More Functional, Weather-Protected Alfresco in Balgowlah Heights

We looooove to welcome back old friends – after completing an alfreco outdoor living area for Andrew & Annabel  10 years earlier at their previous home in Killara; it was great to work with them again at their new home & welcome them back into the Emanate Family.

Although we already had a relationship with Andrew & Annabel, we still took them on the journey at the beginning to ensure we got the design & detail perfect. It had been 10 years since their last alfresco construction – new home, kids have got older & circumstances naturally change; so we needed to understand exactly what they were looking for in their new home.

The existing structure had a few ‘flaws’ that we needed to work around:

1. There was an existing glass roof which just didn’t work on a number of factors
   The structure was very ‘top heavy’ & bulky and a little ugly
2. There was a narrow passage way which was effectivey a dead space & wasn’t able to be used
