For fixed roofs:
- Insulated panel systems are available in BAL-compliant configurations suited to Australian conditions; however not in BAL FZ.
- Timber and tile structures can be designed to meet BAL 12.5, BAL 29, and, in some cases, BAL 40 requirements; however timber species is key.
- Material selection is non-negotiable. Your roof spec needs to be verified against your BAL rating before installation.
For louvre roofs:
- Not all louvre systems are BAL-rated. The specific product and installation method need to comply with your rating.
- In BAL 40 and BAL FZ zones, louvre roof systems require careful assessment. Some systems are simply not appropriate at these ratings.
